The New Jersey Coastal Resilience Collaborative has officially launched a Coastal Habitat and Aquatic Resource Research and Monitoring (CHARRM) workgroup. The CHARRM workgroup is comprised of resource/regulatory agencies, restoration practitioners, and research scientists working to facilitate communication and collaboration for coastal habitat restoration in the region.
The CHARRM workgroup’s goal is to ensure data collection around restoration work meets shared objectives and answers outstanding resource questions. Objectives include: 1) answering resource agency questions through data collection; 2) standardizing nekton, benthic, submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV) and shellfish monitoring / data collection methods; 3) establishing data collection protocols and metrics to measure success across projects; and 4) developing research and monitoring proposals for funding.
Regular meetings will be held from 1-3 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month. Meetings include selected webinar learning series, discussions, updates, information sharing, planning, and collaboration sessions.
The CHARRM workgroup has prioritized organizing a series of learning webinars to fuel and inform future conversations and deliverables.
