Overview of Policy Workgroup

The Policy Workgroup works with the NJCRC leadership, workgroups, and the extensive NJCRC network of professionals to identify relevant coastal resilience policy issues and develop policy analysis, recommendations and comments to support adoption and implementation of policies that advance our common coastal resilience goals.

NJPACT REAL Comments

In November, the Policy Workgroup submitted comments to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection on its proposed Resilience Environments and Landscape (REAL) rule to reform land use in coastal areas. Click here to download the document.

Annual Work Plans

Activities and Outcomes

  • Establish a NJCRC Policy Coordination Committee of 6-8 members to work with NJCRC Leadership and members to track relevant resilience policy development activity at the federal, state and local level, and identify potential opportunities for NJCRC to discuss, review and provide input as needed.
  • Solicit initial input from Workgroups and members to identify
    • current policy activities and issues of interest for possible further action, and
    • interest in serving on the Policy Coordination Committee.
  • Coordinate a Policy Workgroup – NJCRC Members Roundtable to review and discuss input from member outreach, including recommendations for establishing topical subgroups from interested experts from the NJCRC network as needed to work on priority issues
  • Schedule regular meetings for the Policy Coordination Committee, and support the work of topical subgroups approved by the Board.
  • Schedule webinars and briefings for NJCRC members on resilience policy issues of interest.
